The Story behind the Painting
People visiting my booth seem to love this painting of three young sailors. Often they comment, "Wow, this looks like a photo!" That's my opening to explain that this scene would be impossible to photograph without the benefit of time travel!

These three seaman, fresh out of boot camp, served in three different wars spanning more than sixty years: World War II, the Vietnam War, and the War on Terror. They are the father and son of Chuck Lang, the man in the middle, who commissioned me to bring the tribute he imagined to canvas.
Chuck writes:
You have amazed me once again. What you have done is nothing short of magic!
You have taken three pictures--one from WWII in black-and-white, one from the Vietnam War and one from the War on Terror--and married them together into a full colored portrait that has brought only one response from every one who has seen it: “Amazing!”
Ever since my son Andy decided to chose the Navy I dreamed of somehow making a tribute to the three generations of Langs serving their country in time of war, all in the Navy. It it is not often that a dream comes to fruition exactly the way you envisioned it. Your painting is spot on.
This is truly a keepsake that will be passed down in my family for generations. My only regret is that my dad is not here to see it, but I know that he is looking down on it with a big smile and saying, "Amazing!"
